May 1st my youngest grandson, Matt, will leave Big Lake, Alaska for Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training. Timing would probably never be good I suppose, but this time in Matt's life will be especially difficult. Matt became a father just one month ago. Isaac is their first child and now this young family is facing a long separation. Add to that the fact that Matt has never been away from home for more than a few days in his entire life and I'm guessing my grandson will be one homesick solider.
I suspect he mainly joined the army for financial or economic reasons. Whatever the reason I imagine he is having some second thoughts just now as he faces telling his wife and new son goodbye. May you be so busy that time will fly for you Matt. Be Safe!
